What to look for in a Fall Protection Contractor.

Experience - FLS has designed and installed more fall protection systems in more applications and industries than any other fall protection system contractor in North America. Every day, our fall protection systems protect thousands of workers from injuries or death due to fall hazards. We have literally designed hundreds of miles of fall protection systems in use all over the world.

Professional Engineers - FLS has Professional Engineers on staff whose sole purpose is the design of fall protection systems. They are experienced in the loading characteristics of fall protection systems and, when systems are attached to your existing structures, are capable of analyzing your structure to ensure that the building is capable of withstanding the loads imposed upon it by the fall protection systems. They design innovative, lightweight connection details to keep costs to a minimum and they are familiar with local and federal regulations and the OSHA, CSA and ANSI standards.

Insurance - FLS maintains all appropriate insurances as applicable for the design and installation of fall protection systems. Check out any competitor’s insurance certificate. Ask for a copy of the endorsement for working at height, particularly over 2 floors. Ensure that the contractor is covered for the design and installation of fall protection systems.

References and testimonials - Ask for references in your area. Since we are a national fall protection contractor with installations all over the country, chances are we have a satisfied customer with a system installed near you. Check out the system, how it works, look at the quality of the fabrications, the systems and ask the customer what he thought about the project from start to finish.

Qualified System Technicians - All of FLS installation technicians annually attend and complete a 40-hour OSHA 311 fall protection course and are classified as "competent persons". Our installation technicians regularly attend refresher courses to keep up to date with new fall protection technology. All are certified to operate the various pieces of equipment such as manlifts and cranes that are required of the project. The FLS installers who will mobilize to your site are experienced and trained extensively to work safely at height. Our installation superintendents must have a minimum of ten years experience installing fall protection systems before they become rated. Compare that with any of our competitors. It is crucial that those installing the fall arrest systems are capable of working safely at height. What is the advantage to installing a fall protection system if it can’t be done safely in the first place.

All-Inclusive Proposals - Our proposals are very detailed and comprehensive. They include everything you require and nothing more. There are no surprises and no hidden costs. When comparing our proposal to a competitors you’ll find that the initial “lower” cost of the competition is normally much higher when you add in all the things that are hidden in the small text.

Warranty - All Flexible Lifeline Systems, regardless of system type come with a five (5) year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.

Life Expectancy - All of our Flexible Lifeline Systems have a design life expectancy of 20 years. In that time the consumables such as retractable lifelines, trolley wheels and harnesses may have to be replaced but the system itself will remain unfazed by weather or other environmental conditions. We have subjected our systems to independent 3rd party testing to include 20 year salt-spray testing, wind vortex shedding to ensure that the systems are not only the highest performing systems available but to ensure that you get the longest lasting fall protection system.
